Twelve Bed Display

Sixteen Bed Display

The MDP2040-0100 with GE Unity network connection provides display of all available vital signs, messages and these additional features:

Multi-Patient Monitoring

For CCU, ICU, PACU and Telemetry. Locate displays at Nurse’s Station, Hallways, Nurse’s Lounge or wherever monitoring coverage is desired.

Single Patient Monitoring

For Surgery, Emergency and Special Procedures. Single patient selection also provides these additional items: Stop watch timer, ECG1 Freeze, Common or Separate baseline, 02, BIS and two Gas values.

Single Patient Temporary Display

When monitoring multiple beds, a single-bed can be selected for full-screen viewing of all available parameters for that patient. The multiple-patient display will resume after one minute or by pressing the ESC button. If a different bed goes into alarm while in full- screen view, a flashing message will notify the user that another bed is in alarm.

Patient Alarms

Visual alarms & audible alarms duplicate the GE patient monitor sound.

When the Print function is selected, this menu will appear:

Menu Item Description
Real-Time Prints 12 seconds history, 4 seconds real time, preceded by 1 hour trend
Tab Prints tabular trend
Graph Prints graphic trend
Print on Crisis When enabled, a Real-time page is automatically printed upon a CRISIS alarm type as defined from the patient monitor. Printer must be enabled within Setup Menu and Alarm Response must be set to ALL or CRISIS in the Service menu.

MDP2040-0100 Network Activity

The MDP2040-0100 operates with independent configurability. It builds bed/patient lists by listening for Rwhat packets, and allows the user to select up to 16 different beds/patients for display.

Some common questions with answers are presented below:

How does the MDP gather data to display?

The MDP listens on the GE Unity Network for Rwhat ID packets to build a list of available Beds/Patients being monitored. With no patients selected on the MDP for display, the MDP is completely silent, with no Network traffic being output at all. When beds are selected for viewing, the MDP must output Numeric and Waveform Request packets that are just over 100 bytes each in size to each bed being monitored.

How much traffic will the MDP add?

Outputs: Rwhats-0. The MDP does not output any Rwhat identifying packets. Numeric Requests-1 numeric request packet / 3 seconds for each displayed bed. Wave Requests- 1 wave request/stimulation packet every 10-15 seconds for each displayed bed to keep the waves coming continuously.

Does the MDP add any vulnerable points to the network?

Our Ethernet interface is a 10 Base-T network. The user can set the IP to maintain complete control over device IP address assignment. The MDP’s NIC chip has built-in hardware for anti-jabber detection to terminate transmission. The MDP is not PC based and uses no OS that is vulnerable to viruses or external concerns usually addressed by employing Fire Walls.

What is involved with installing/setting up your system onto a network?

A typical installation may include an Ethernet connection to GE’s network switches.

Installation: If a network connection is installed in the location where NetViewer is to be located, connect via a non-crossover Cat5 cable between NetViewer and the network connection. (If the MDP is to be connected directly to the patient monitor then a crossover cable is required.) Connect a Video monitor into NetViewer. Apply power to NetViewer and Video monitor. Allow several seconds to acquire Patient Monitor list. Using the supplied control ( Remote Knob or Mouse), select a Bed/Patient to monitor. One or up to 16 Patients can be selected.

Patient Monitor Setup: Each GE monitor must be setup with a ‘Care Area’ and ‘Bed ID’ before access over the Network is possible. This is done under the SERVICE menu of the Patient Monitor. If the Patient Monitors are already connected to a GE Server or CIC, this has already been done.
